Why is the Public vID hyperlink gone and replaced with Get Token?
The Public vID link was created as a free service for all Veonics Accounts. Otherwise, it was an upgrade option.
Virtual ID (vID) and Tokenized Links Terms and Conditions:
- Introduction: These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the Virtual ID (vID) and the Tokenized Link option provided by Express Badging Services, Inc. By utilizing these services, you agree to comply with the conditions outlined below.
- Change from Public vID Link to Tokenized Link: The public vID hyperlink was initially created as a free service for all Veonics Accounts, with an optional upgrade for additional features. To enhance cybersecurity and protect Personally Identifiable Information (PII), the Public vID Link has been replaced with a Tokenized Link at no additional cost.
- Security and Compliance: The introduction of the Tokenized Link aligns with industry standards for data protection. This ensures unauthorized individuals cannot easily access or manipulate publicly available vID links. While this change may require an additional mouse click for access, Express Badging Services, Inc. is actively working on a future update that will allow users to enable automatic publication of the Tokenized Link.
- Reverting to Public vID Mode: Organizations that have integrated the Public vID into operational processes and wish to revert from Tokenized to the Public vID publishing mode may do so under the following conditions:
- The organization must acknowledge the security risks associated with the Public vID mode.
- The organization understands that the Public vID URL can be manually modified, and if the corresponding value is active, the associated vID badge may be publicly accessible.
- Public vID URLs may be indexed by search engines such as Google and Yahoo, potentially exposing the link to a broader audience.
- Request for Public vID Mode: To enable the Public vID mode, an authorized representative of the organization must send an email to support@expressbadging.com containing the following statement:
"We recognize that publishing the Public Virtual ID poses security risks. The URL can be manually modified, and if the value is active, the corresponding vID badge will be publicly visible. Furthermore, search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and others may index this URL, potentially exposing it to a broader audience.
- With this understanding, we approve Express Badging Services, Inc. to enable the Public vID mode until further notice. This request has no expiration date and is submitted by an employee or individual authorized to agree to these terms and conditions."
- Future Updates: Express Badging Services, Inc. is considering introducing a feature allowing the vID to default to the Tokenized link. However, this feature is not currently available and will be scheduled for release no earlier than 2026.
- Disclaimer: Express Badging Services, Inc. is not responsible for any data exposure from using the Public vID mode. By requesting Public vID publishing, the organization assumes full responsibility for potential security risks.
